My love story with this distro has entered a new realm with the release of Linux Mint 9 “ISADORA”. I had downloaded the Beta version the very hour it was announced and now am on full version. As always it seems to be fresh out of the oven. Everything seems so natural and I love it.

After a lazy morning of not getting of my bed till 3pm I decided to give lethargy a second priority and out of the blue decided to go for an outing, for a day out, actually it can be called an evening-out, but still… So we embarked on our journey, Raani, saaki and me. People from IIITA who read this blog know the nicknames well. For a normal reader just imagine two of my friends

As soon as we reached the IIITA main gate, we realised we had missed the bus to city, and we decided to go to the city with the “tempo”, the staple mode of transport in Allahabad. The trip included going to and fro in pursuit of better seats which was going to cost me a hard bump on my head. Luckily I got over it. And then at last, after thirty minutes of college jokes which attracted and invited special edition frowns from the poeple and specially the ladies. That is when we stopped to decide where we are to go. This dillema had been procastinated till this stage. Then we had options, boating in Naini Bridge, Qatra which was closed or civil lines or maybe some historical place in Allahabad, all we knew was that we wanted a moment off.

Then we were off to a non-veg haven which later proved to be closed and Dominos with it’s long queue looked quiet uninviting. It is then that our animal instincts came up, we went to “F.R.I.E.N.D.S. forever”, which is a good restaurant of Allahabad and two hungry engineers attacked a FULL SERVING of boneless butter chicken, coupled with the special coffee+choco+icecream+cream drink, a chocolate pastry and a few more delights. The waiter wanted to know if we wanted to have all of it together and all we could do was grin

The food session cannot be put into words because words can just describe the civilised approach to life and there is no manner’s barrier when two hungry guys attack a palatte of Butter Chicken. Anyways, after making sure that we had stuffed enough of the food and after taking some pictures and grooving to the tunes of the music there and making sure people were fed up of us, we decided to move on. We then went to the famous “Sumitra-Nandan Bal udyaan” or common poeple call it the Haathi park coz it has a slide with the shape of elephant (ssshhhh we even tried that ) …. Anyways, as soon we entered we went astray in the dusk and we unwantingly entered a part of park where couples were cuddling each other and I better not describe about the actions … Anyways, then we found our way back to children’s playground and since it was getting dark, the number of children dwindling and our adrenaline boost made us try the slides, the see-saw and merr-go-round and all through we were shouting “Hail the future of the country, the engineers”… After the chaotic performance we made our way to the Nehru Science Centre, the place which dispatches buses to our college and to our utter disappointment (blessing in disguise) the 8pm bus was cancelled and we had to wait another 1 hour. We now decided to go to Shaheed Park, the very same park where Chandra-Shekhar Azad had achieved martyrdom. As soon as we entered the park we saw people smoking and playing cards and a group of children garlanding Chandra Shekhar Azad’s statue (there is till hope in this country)… And we then rest flat on the grass and started plating songs right from “The Reason” by Hoobstank to “Kucch iss tarah” by Aatif Aslam and had a good chat… This was one of the best relaxing moments we had in Allahabad coz we were not thinking of anything, just staring at the sky and enjoying every moment we had.

Soon it was 9pm and time for us to leave, I didn’t feel like getting up, but going back to the college was necessary to get injected with exam anxiety….. So this is our story, the day-out between exams, I wanted to call it baby’s day out but unfortunately there were three of us and no one is gonna tag twenty somethings as babies.
